Desiree Rumbaugh

2007-10-23 John Winkelman

I just uploaded 47 photos of a Yoga session taught by Desiree Rumbaugh, which took place on Sunday, October 13. From the Heart Yoga now has a Flickr account, and I guess, for the moment, I am the official un-official photographer.

There are few sights in the world more wonderful than a beautiful woman practicing yoga.

Pickerel Lake, October 29, 2006

These photos are from a walk Cynthia and I took around Pickerel Lake back in late October last year. If you look closely, in one of the photos you can see the walls of a labyrinth.

Ludington State Park

2007-09-24 John Winkelman

These are shots from a trip Cynthia and I took to Ludington State Park over Labor Day weekend.

I have decided to go for broke and start uploading all of my digital photos to Flickr – or at least, the better of my photos. I have many CDs, and a small but growing stack of DVDs, which I use for archiving. Given the space which Flickr provides (unlimited), there is no reason not to put everything online.

Catching Up

2007-09-10 John Winkelman

Prague, Czech Republic, 1994

I just scanned, cropped, straightened and adjusted another fourteen photos from my 1994 trip to Russia. Eighteen down, about eighty to go.

I also just finished updating the Crime Map. So far this year (that I know of) there have been eighteen murders. In 2006 there were 19 murders. We still have almost four months to go until the end of the year. With a little hard work, we can easily surpass last year. Our shareholders demand nothing less of us.

Prague, 1994

2007-08-31 John Winkelman

This is a test photo to see how my scanner (which I am using for the first time) works. The photo is from a set I took back in the Spring of 1994, when I and a group of students from Grand Valley State University and Indiana University Bloomington, along with our professors, spent six weeks in Russia.

This photo is from a tour of Prague on the way in.

More photos as I figure out a simple system for scanning, cleaning, and uploading.

I had the jalapeno, along with a banana, an apple, a nectarine, and a splash of apple juice, this morning in a breakfast smoothie. It was delicious.

The Rest of the India Photos

2007-08-23 John Winkelman

I just finished uploading the rest of my India photos to Flickr. You can see the set here. The photos are tagged and titled, but not yet described. That part takes the most time.

This is (was) the youngest monk in the monastery in February 2001. He was six. Unfortunately I cannot find my notebook so I cannot remember his name.

Cham Dance during Tibetan New Year celebration at Dzongkar Choede Monastery

After a couple of days of panicked searching I found all of my old photos from India. I just finished uploading 100 photos of the Cham dance, part of the Tibetan New Year celebration in February of 2001 at the Dzongkar Choede monastery.

More (many more) photos to follow!
